In Blackboard Learn (Original View), LockDown Browser uses the test password functionality to ensure students are using LockDown Browser to access the test. There are specific best practices around testing with LockDown Browser and we’d like to help you with your first experiences to make them as problem free as possible. LIT wants to assist any other instructors interested in using this product to administer exams. LIT/TechSpot can come to class to troubleshoot any problems in advance of any real tests so that instructors and students can be confident the system will work.ĭuring the fall term we piloted LockDown Browser with a few courses with success. The instructor can access audio and video of the student's testing session to determine whether testing integrity may have been violated. If a student leaves their computer, if they turn their face away from the screen, if another person comes into view, etc., the exam will be flagged. LockDown Browser is integrated with Blackboard and can be added as an exam requirement by toggling a simple setting. You may not be able to do this during an exam as LockDown seems to change its behavior during exams. Also note that I did not test this inside an exam. If you enable LockDown Browser for a Blackboard tests, students will be unable to copy, print, access other applications, visit other websites, or close the test until it is submitted. Here’s how to bypass it Note that this does NOT involve virtual machines or anything like that. Students are unable to use copy/paste, browse to other websites, or access unauthorized programs and files on that computer until the exam has been submitted. LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment for tests taken in Blackboard. Printing and screen capture are disabled, Task Manager is inaccessible, and assessments are displayed full screen. Once they begin taking the exam, students' computers are temporarily locked down. If an instructor requires LDB for a test, students will not be able to access the test with any other browser.
